Multi-camera editing can be broken down into three categories, and these are… Live events, Public events, and Studio productions. All Multi-camera productions can be put into at least one of these categories in some way, with others being more obvious.
Advantages
- You can switch to a better shot if something changes
- You can catch things that you may not have with single camera
- You can use the other cameras to get specific shots
- It’s good for replaying things, i.e. different angles of a goal in football
- It gives you more freedom, as you will have other cameras so if something you do doesn’t go so well you can switch to another camera
Disadvantages
- The cameras may be caught in each other’s shots and ruin them
- It means that you have to take more equipment
- It may take longer to set everything up and get everything working correctly
